Speech Therapy for Kids & Teens
Each and every child brings something unique to speech therapy.
At Cambrian Speech-Language Solutions, motivation is key, and each new personality brings new motivations to the table. SLP Erin Riley thrives on figuring out how best to bring out the motivation to make progress on speech, language and pragmatic goals.
See below for areas of speech-language that can be addressed in one-on-one therapy, either in person at our Midpark office or over teletherapy.

Kids have so much to share with the world
At Cambrian Speech, we want to maximize communication effectiveness with functional goals, in a comfortable, encouraging environment which aims to associate learning with empowerment and self-worth.

Articulation
Encompassing speech sound disorders (e.g. lisps, difficulty with R, L, TH) and childhood apraxia of speech. It takes time for all children to learn the sounds required for intelligible speech, but some kids need help to keep pace with expected speech sound development.

Fluency
One person’s stutter is one person’s stutter. Erin will work with your child to find the best evidence-based intervention/combination of interventions to best support fluent speech, while your family learns more about the ins & outs of your child’s stutter.

Language
Language-based difficulties comprise, for e.g., difficulties with forming and understanding grammatical sentences, using the right words, and following directions. Like all languages, the English language is complex & aspects of its structure may benefit from extra help.

Social Language
Social language goals may arise in conjunction with autism spectrum disorders or Williams syndrome, or independently. Kids and teens can learn to connect better with their age peers with the help of therapy targeting conversation skills.

Literacy
From pre-literacy skills like phonological awareness (e.g. rhyme identification, separating words into syllables, identifying the first sound in a word) to reading comprehension, to long-form writing composition, getting better at literacy can be empowering and fun.

AAC
Augmentative and Alternative Communication, or AAC, includes signing systems like Signed Exact English (which uses vocabulary from ASL), high-tech systems like LAMP, Snap Core First and TouchChat, and low-tech options like PECS.
